Flagstaff, Arizona - YogaPeaks is founder Lisa Short’s branded vision of a welcoming, challenging, safe yoga experience. Fostering deeper connection both with self and other through focused practice, is at the core of the YogaPeaks mission.
Nestled in the forest of Flagstaff, Arizona, YogaPeaks embraces the Dharma of Service: to self, to family, to other and to the greater good through consistent and attentive practice.
Lisa’s yoga instruction encourages strong alignment both in the physical body and with the higher self as led by the breath. Commitment with integrity and yet without attachment is a recurring theme as is Sthira Suhka Asana, steady and calm steps while embracing heat, Tapas.
Classes focus on breath as the ultimate guide, the development of a strong core foundation and maintenance of safe alignment throughout sequences of L1, L2 asana.
Born and raised in Flagstaff, Lisa began ballet at the age of eight and continued throughout college. After being invited into professional level classes, injury struck and Lisa was forced to switch course. Fitness filled the empty space and Lisa taught public classes while she traveled abroad and completed a degree in Languages.
Lisa began her yoga journey after landing a demanding job with a digital music company in New York City. The intensity required counter balance. She began her practice at a modified Bikram studio in Greenwich, Connecticut where she studied for nearly a decade with founders Heather Trzuskowski and Toni Goodrich. It was both life affirming and life saving.
After years on the East Coast, Lisa moved to LA. She completed her 200hr TT and 300hr PP under the mentorship of Lainie Devina and YogaWorks Los Angeles. She is a RYT500 with Yoga Alliance and has workshop experience with some of LA’s finest Yoga lineage: Lisa Walford, Jasmine Lieb, John Gaydos, Thomas Tubman, Dani Ibarra, David Lynch, Susanne Sterling, Vivica Schwartz and others. Lisa teaches alignment-based Vinyasa Flow rooted in The YogaWorks methodology with hints of Iyengar, Yoga Theraputics and Restoratives. Her instruction addresses all levels of experience.
"I am beyond excited to bring my experience and knowledge back to my hometown. I look forward to raising my boys under the watchful gaze of the San Francisco Peaks, and to growing as a teacher and disciple of Yoga."
YogaPeaks Studio is currently not holding public group classes.
